23rd June is an important day for the whole sport community and Olympic family as it is Olympic Day. This special day commemorates the founding, at the Sorbonne in Paris, of the International Olympic Committee on 23rd June 1894 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

This Olympic Day is a celebration of sport, health and bringing people together. It invites everyone around the globe to be active and move together with purpose on 23rd June every year. It represents making the world a better place through sport. Olympic Day celebrations go back to 1947, when it was presented by Doctor Gruss, a Czech IOC member, at the 41st Session of the International Olympic Committee in Stockholm, Sweden. It was later presented and approved at the 42nd IOC Session in St Moritz, Switzerland, in January 1948.

The theme of this year's Olympic Day is 'Let's Move' which aims to inspire people around the world to make time for daily physical activity. It is a societal fact, even if the world is moving faster, people tend to be less active than in the past, especially the young generations. This 23rd June is the start of a new global movement to make time to move.

"When we do sport, it keeps our mind and body strong and healthy. When we do sport, it inspires us to always give it our best and it makes us dream, it spreads joy and brings us together,” said IOC President, Mr Thomas Bach.

What better than the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam to show that the judo community is moving and is on the move. During the three day competition, hundreds of athletes will perform and inspire millions of people to do the same.

Among the values that will be highlighted on 23rd June are those of solidarity, inclusion and sustainability, values that are dear to our judo heart. Everybody can be part of it, you can be part of it too.

Follow your heroes, have fun and enjoy Olympic Day!
