James A. Pedro, known as ‘Jimmy’, was born on October 30, 1970, in Danvers, Massachussets.

In 1991, he shined by winning two bronze medals at the Pan American Games and at the World Championships 1991 of Barcelona. Selected for the Olympic Games the following year, he failed to reach the podium, but four years later in Atlanta, he won the bronze medal (-71kg).

In 1995, he won another bronze medal at the Chiba World Championships (JPN). In 1999, he won the major title of his career at the Birmingham Worlds.

After taking a break from competition, he returned to his best level in 2004, winning a second bronze medal at the Athens Games (-73kg).
