Today we celebrate the laughter, dreams, courage and limitless potential of children everywhere.

At the International Judo Federation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, play and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Every child deserves to feel valued, respected and empowered to pursue their dreams.

Through judo, we teach much more than sport. We teach respect, friendship, perseverance, self-confidence, courage and kindness. We help young people develop not only physical skills but also the values and character that will guide them throughout their lives.

The founder of judo, Jigoro Kano Shihan, believed that education and personal development were just as important as physical strength. His vision was to use judo as a tool to help build better individuals and, through them, a better society. More than a century later, this vision continues to inspire our work around the world.

Every day, in dojos across the globe, children learn to respect one another, to overcome challenges, to support their teammates and to believe in themselves. They discover that success is not measured only by victories but also by effort, determination and the willingness to keep moving forward after setbacks.

To all the children who inspire us with their enthusiasm, resilience and determination: never stop believing in yourselves. Dream big, work hard and remember that every great achievement begins with a single step.

Today, we also pay tribute to the coaches, teachers, parents, volunteers and community leaders who dedicate their time, energy and hearts to helping children grow with confidence, purpose and hope. Their commitment plays an essential role in shaping the next generation.

Let us continue working together to build a world where every child is safe, supported, included and given the opportunity to become the very best version of themselves.

Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.
