On Wednesday 11th June, the global judo family came together for the 2025 IJF Congress, an important forum for national federations, continental unions and all judoka across the world. Part of the occasion was given over to the task of forming the new IJF Executive Committee and of course its president, the team which will drive the strategic direction of the organisation for the 4 years ahead.

IJF President Mr Marius Vizer gave his welcome address to those gathered at the congress, held at the beautiful Varkert Bazar in Hungary’s capital. Mr Vizer also thanked the 2021 to 2025 Executive Committee for their hard work and unified approach, wishing the new team a successful and productive term ahead.

As the item arose on the agenda for the election of the IJF President, Mr Vizer stood for re-election unopposed and was applauded by the national federation presidents and general secretaries as his election was duly ratified. Mr Vizer said, “I thank you again and always for your trust, loyalty, co-operation and support. You can be sure that the new IJF Executive Committee and myself will be dedicated, even more motivated than in the past, to do better and better for the future of judo.”

Delegates then applauded the appointment of the new EC members, including an additional appointment, ratified unanimously, that of Mr Max-Herve George, IJF Director of International Partnerships.
