Bavaria’s European Minister Eric Beißwenger awarded the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic to personalities from Swabia in the Rococo Hall of the Swabian government in the presence of District President Barbara Schretter. Johannes Daxbacher, Head of the IJF Police Commission, was recognised.

European Minister Beißwenger said at the award ceremony, “You have done so much for the people in Bavaria and Germany. We depend on people like you, who are committed to all of us. Without you, Germany and Bavaria would be a different country but certainly not a better one. You have achieved outstanding things in your own unique way. That’s why the Federal President awarded you the Federal Cross of Merit, a well deserved recognition!”

IJF President, Mr Marius Vizer, said, "On behalf of the International Judo Federation, I am glad to congratulate you warmly on being awarded the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic. The award is the result of the dedication and hard work you have done over the years for the development of judo worldwide. You have been highlighting the precious values of our sport continuously, contributing to the world becoming a better place. I reiterate our appreciation, wishing you success in your future projects and endeavours.”

The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany is awarded by the Federal President for political, economic, social and intellectual achievements as well as for all special services to the Federal Republic of Germany, for example services in the social, charitable and humanitarian areas. These are achievements that have been made with considerable effort over a long period of time, putting one’s own interests aside.
