Haruka Kaju, inc claiming the -63 kg title, extends her unbeaten run, not dropping a single contest since first appearing at last year’s Tokyo Grand Slam.
At -81 kg, Timur Arbuzov stopped Tato Grigalashvili’s world championship domination, halting his 3-edition winning streak to win his own, first gold medal at this level. It was a long but fascinating final between two great judoka.
As the judo world is present in the Hungarian capital, other projects continue to take shape, such as the election of the IJF Athletes’ Commission, which will close on 19th June. Many meetings to further the causes of the Judo for Peace Commission are also taking place, presidents of numerous countries are keen to continue the great work already being done around the world.
Judo for Peace projects will also feature as the year moves towards World Judo Day. On 28th October the judo world will be concentrated on the theme of 'Peace.'
