It is with deep regret that the international judo community was informed that on 7th May 2025, at the age of 87, Kazimierz Jaremczak, an outstanding judoka, coach, referee and sports activist, passed away.

Kazimierz Jaremczak was a five-time Polish judo champion, a bronze medallist at the European Championships (1965), and Polish rugby champion (1960) as a player of Lechia Gdańsk.

After ending his competitive career, he served as a coach of AZS Gdańsk, was a co-founder of KS AZS AWFiS Gdańsk and was also an international referee, chairing the EJU and IJF refereeing committees. He was twice a referee at the Olympic Games (1984, 1988), as well as at world and European championships. In the years 1990-1994 he served as the president of the Polish Judo Association.

The IJF and the entire judo family offers their deepest condolences to his family, relatives and friends.
