Energy company MET Group has been promoting and supporting the global development of judo through its partnership launched with the IJF in 2023. They have decided to further their attention to Judo by continuing to invest in the sport, now supporting 26-year-old world champion, Nils Stump (SUI), on his way to participate in grand slams, the 2024 European Championships in Zagreb, the World Championships in Abu Dhabi and the absolute highlight of the season, the Olympic Games in Paris. MET Group is thus underscoring its willingness to promote the sport of judo in general and outstanding talents in particular.

MET Group has been the official partner of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the IJF World Judo Tour since the beginning of 2023 and is present on site at all grand prix, grand slams and World Judo Masters worldwide. As part of the agreement, MET Group supports the IJF particularly with talent development and youth development, areas which are of central importance to the energy company, mirroring its own extraordinary growth history of the last 17 years which was primarily based on finding the right talents, giving them responsibility right from the start and continuing to grow together.

2024 will feature numerous sporting highlights for judo stars, including the European Championships in Zagreb from 25th to 28th April, the World Championships in Abu Dhabi from 19th to 23rd May and the Olympic Games in Paris from 27th July to 3rd August.

It is therefore appropriate that Nils Stump, who in 2023 was the first Swiss judoka to ever win a world judo title, has set himself goals which are just as ambitious as the ones MET Group sets itself as one of the fastest growing energy companies on the international energy markets.

Doha World Championships 2023

In 2021 I fulfilled my childhood dream and qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. My whole life had been geared towards that goal. This made the disappointment all the greater when the adventure was all over after the first match. But now I'm looking towards the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris confidently, where I want to go one better after last year's world championship title and complete my childhood dream with an Olympic medal. I am filled with pride and joy that MET Group is supporting me on my way as my main partner,” says the native of the Zurich Oberland.

MET Group’s company values – Agility, Courage, Independence – are a perfect match for the ambitious elite Swiss sportsman, who has totally dedicated himself to the sport on the tatami since the age of seven and has been able to turn his passion into a career.

Benjamin Lakatos, Chairman & CEO of MET Group commented, “I am always fascinated by stories like this, where people totally identify with a task and give their all to achieve their goals. Challenging and supporting talented people, both within and outside the company, is a matter that is close to my heart. I am all the more delighted that Nils and the whole team at MET Group will approach milestones together this year in order to achieve the best possible successes.

The International Judo Federation is happy and honoured to have MET Group as a part of the global judo family, aligning the values of judo and helping to promote them thoughout the world for a better society. Thank you to MET Group and good luck to Nils Stump in all his endeavors.
