It is with deep sadness that Judo Canada announced the passing of Raymond Damblant, Honorary Member of the IJF and a true pioneer of judo in Canada.

A lifelong servant of our sport, Raymond dedicated his life to the development and promotion of judo, both in Canada and internationally. His vision, passion and leadership played a decisive role in shaping the growth of Canadian judo and strengthening its place within the international judo community.

Raymond’s contributions went far beyond the tatami. His work as a leader, teacher and promoter of judo values touched generations of athletes, coaches and officials. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration for judoka worldwide.

A commemorative ceremony in his honour will be held on 30th August 2025, where the Canadian judo family and the international community will gather to pay tribute to his remarkable life and achievements.

The IJF family honours the memory of Raymond Damblant and expresses gratitude for his lifelong service to judo. His spirit and values will continue to live on through the community he helped to build.
