On the sidelines of the Baku 2026 World Judo Championships, Habib Sissoko was awarded his 8th dan. IJF President Marius Vizer presented him with his diploma, recognising decades of commitment to the sport.
A former president of the Malian Judo and Jujitsu Federation and the African Judo Union, Habib Sissoko has played a major role in developing judo in Mali and across the continent. Under his leadership, the sport made significant progress and strengthened its position on the international stage.
His commitment also extends beyond the tatami. As president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Mali, he continues to contribute to the development and profile of Malian sport.
This promotion recognises a career defined by leadership, the sharing of knowledge and lasting service to judo.
