You follow them each time they participate in a competition. You quake for them. You worry when you feel they’re not in great shape and you rejoice when they step on the podia of the World Judo Tour.

At the end of August 2019, Sagi Muki (ISR) became World Judo Champion, in Tokyo in the -81kg category. After a day full of emotions and an exemplary journey through the preliminary rounds and the final block, he climbed up to the highest step of the podium. Already European Champion and now with the world title in his pocket, his dream of an Olympic podium has only grown.

We met him at his home in Netanya, a few days before the first Grand Prix of the Season, in Tel Aviv. Sagi Muki opened wide the doors of his house and his family and lent himself, with joy, to the filming of the new episode of the ‘I AM JUDO’ series, produced by the International Judo Federation.

In this film you will discover the first images of a young judoka, long before he became World Champion. You will see him evolve at the Wingate Institute where the entire Israeli national team, men and women, train daily and above all you will learn about his deep motivations and the values that form the basis of the life of a top athlete.

In the coming months, each week, we will offer you a new episode, featuring a champion from one of the countries in which the World Judo Tour is stopping off, while the judo family is on its way to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
