A few days ago the Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development, Mr. Moses Mawere, officially opened the course and encouraged all the participants to take advantage of the instructors conducting the sessions to learn more on judo.
The minister said government is happy that the coaching course which involves practicals was being conducted in Zambia.
38 participants from 11 African countries are taking part in the course, which shows the dynamism of the region and the involvement of all the national federations. The coaching course will end on the 22 May, 2017.
It is the second time that Zambia hosts such an important session, which, through the IJF Academy, offers the possibility to coaches to get graduated with an internationally recognized diploma.
Mr. Daniel Lascau (IJF Sport director), who is currently present in Zambia together with the IJF Academy Director, Mr. Envic Galea, and several other IJF experts said that the Zambian Judo Federation delivered a very good organization and that the students obtained really good marks. Mr. Mark Huizinga, Olympic gold medallist in Sydney 2000 is present in Lusaka for the course to deliver his vision of modern judo. Mrs Estony Pridgeon, African Judo Union General Secretary, is also present in the Zambian capital.
