With the theme ‘Welcome Home, Swiss Judo Olympians,’ a tribute was paid to several former athletes present in a special setting, entirely dedicated to judo.

Juliane Robra, Ludovic Chammartin, Ciril Grossklaus, Olivier Schaffter, Daniel Kistler and Marcel Burkhard were the guests of honour, arriving in Lausanne on a sunny Friday, 22nd September. They enjoyed a guided tour of the International Olympic Committee headquarters. Their visit was marked by a journey through Olympic stories but also by an overview of what is currently happening around the largest sporting event in the world. It was also possible to take a peek into the main IOC meeting room where all major decisions are made, shielded from the outside world.

The event was completed by a kata demonstration by Laurence Jeanneret-Berruex and Fabrice Beney. Under the gaze of all the collaborators, the two kata experts gave an overview of the traditions of judo. The Olympic athletes were then able to immortalise their presence by putting their signatures on the famous IOC glass wall. Pedro Dias, former competitor and initiator of the event, finally presented the diplomas and thanked everyone present for this high quality event.
