The topics discussed at the AIPS congress were numerous and reflected current developments in the media world, particularly in the sports press. It is undeniable that the world of sport needs the media to highlight the achievements of athletes and the media needs sport to generate content and create social connections.
Content creation and the work of content creators were among the main topics discussed, along with sports betting, artificial intelligence and the role of women in sports journalism.
During a presentation to the congress attendees and AIPS President Gianni Merlo, Nicolas Messner, IJF Media Director, highlighted the IJF's work in the media field as well as the impact that a sport like judo can have on society. In addition to the World Judo Tour, Messner presented the activities of the Judo for Peace and Judo for Children commissions, and more generally the educational work carried out at all levels of the organisation. The central idea was to explain that judo is more than a sport and that it has the ability to generate stories that can interest the media.
Many speakers emphasised the importance of the media and the need to work together as the world faces numerous challenges. Judo is pleased to be able to contribute to the development of a more just society based on the notions of mutual respect and prosperity so dear to every judoka around the world.
