There were smiles, embraces, moments of concentration and proud celebrations. Athletes, coaches, families, volunteers and officials all played their part in creating an atmosphere that went far beyond competition. Each contest was an opportunity to show courage, respect and friendship. Every bow carried the same meaning: we compete, we learn and we celebrate together.
In Sarajevo, there were medals for all, but above all there was a place for all. Everyone won. Everyone took part. Everyone became part of the celebration.
The shiai competition has set the tone for an exceptional Special Olympics judo gathering, where achievement is measured not only by results, but by inclusion, shared emotion and the pride of belonging to one judo family.
