Warming Up - Judo For All

At the 2023 World Judo Championships Cadets it is exactly like this. It’s loud but focussed, it’s busy but somehow ordered and among the teams we can find all the different characters we recognise from the world’s many thousands of judo clubs.

Judo is for everyone, for the studious, the solitary, the big and the small. It’s for the strategists, the perfectionists and the playful.

Perhaps the warm-up room is one aspect of a life in judo that doesn't change so much as athletes pass through their age categories. The different characters of the judo community can always be found there, with each one tolerant of the next.
