On the occasion of International Women's Day 2026, the International Judo Federation launches a new publication, Seeds of Judo, a project designed to highlight and connect the many initiatives that promote the values of judo across the world.

Conceived as a meeting point for development activities within the global judo community, Seeds of Judo shines a light on the programmes, ideas and individuals who use the sport as a tool for education, empowerment and social progress.

The publication takes the form of a periodical digital magazine in PDF format. Each edition gathers a series of articles built around a specific theme. The first issue is dedicated to women and celebrates the many ways they influence and shape the lives of judoka, both on and off the tatami.

Through stories of resilience, leadership and inspiration, the magazine illustrates how deeply women are woven into the fabric of judo. From coaches and leaders to athletes and educators, their contribution continues to shape the development of the sport and the communities it touches.

For this inaugural edition, the editorial direction was entrusted to Sanda Corak, Chair of the IJF Gender Equality Commission, whose commitment to promoting opportunity and inclusion reflects the spirit of the project.

It is often said that judo is more than a sport. It is an art, a philosophy and a way of life. Beyond physical activity, its values of respect, courage, friendship and mutual benefit offer a powerful framework for personal growth and social cohesion. Seeds of Judo seeks to capture these principles in action by highlighting initiatives that bring them to life around the world.

In the months ahead, the International Judo Federation will publish further editions of Seeds of Judo, each exploring a new theme. Future issues will focus on topics such as children, peace and environmental responsibility, demonstrating how judo can contribute to addressing some of the challenges faced by modern societies.

The magazine also complements another important IJF publication, The Art and Science of Judo. While that journal focuses on academic research and scientific analysis, Seeds of Judo speaks to a broader audience. It is aimed at everyone who sees judo as a powerful instrument for education, development and human connection.

By sharing experiences and concrete initiatives from around the world, the magazine offers inspiration as well as practical ideas for federations, clubs, coaches and communities seeking to expand the positive impact of judo.

Through Seeds of Judo, the International Judo Federation will continue to plant seeds of development, understanding and freedom through sport.

Enjoy the reading.
