There was a special spectator today in the National Gymnastics Arena, a spectator that for sure caught the eyes of many, while they were pacing the alleys of the venue. Its name is 'Ledo' and it is a white leopard, a real one... almost.

On this first day of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Grand Slam 2023, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation introduced its official mascot to the public, who really enjoyed the presence of the fluffy animal in the stands. The leopard, selected as the symbol of Azerbaijani judo, is renowned for its agility, speed, elegance, unparalleled strength and intelligence, qualities that are necessary on and off the tatami.

The name Ledo, a combination of the words ‘leopard’ and ‘judo,’ was chosen for the mascot that will entertain fans throughout the arena, inspiring athletes to push their limits and strive for excellence in every contest. It will also become a symbol of judo in Azerbaijan, especially with the young ones, who for sure will love to compete against Ledo.
