Located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, Ordos is a modern and rapidly developing city known for its striking architecture and the vast steppe landscape that surrounds it. Ordos is hosting the Asian continental championships from 16th to 18th April. On the opening day of competition, four weight categories were contested: women’s -48 kg and -52 kg, and men’s -60 kg and -66 kg.
Anudari Jamsran (MGL) in action.

In the -48kg category, Mongolia’s Anudari Jamsran claimed the title against Laziza Haydarova (UZB), scoring a decisive waza-ari in golden score. Jamsran made a strong impression, securing her first major senior title. She had won the continental cadet title previously, finished as a finalist at the 2024 Cadet World Championships in Lima, and also holds a grand slam title from Dushanbe last season. Host nation China celebrated its first medals of the event through Xinran Hui and Wenna Zhuang.

Nandin-Erdene Myagmarsuren (MGL).

Mongolia continued its success in the -52kg division, where Nandin-Erdene Myagmarsuren defeated Sita Kadamboeva by two yuko scores to one, with the deciding throw coming in golden score. Like Jamsran, Myagmarsuren has secured her first senior continental title, having won the cadet title in 2022. Bronze medals went to Madina Qurbonzoda of Tajikistan and Sachi Ochiai of Japan.

Ruslan Poltoratskii (BRN) in action.

In the men’s -60 kg category, Bahrain’s Ruslan Poltoratskii overcame Yang Yung-Wei (TPE). At just 20 years old, Poltoratskii captured his first major title with a waza-ari scored via a kata-guruma against the Tokyo 2021 Olympic silver medallist. The podium was completed by Samariddin Kuchkarov (UZB) and Tumenjargal Tuvshintur (MGL), in a category featuring 18 competitors.

Nurali Emomali (TJK).

In the -66 kg division, Tajikistan asserted dominance as Nurali Emomali, silver medallist at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, defeated his teammate Obid Dzhebov by a single yuko in the final. Bronze medals were awarded to Channyeong Kim (KOR) and Ziyang Que (CHN).

After a vibrant opening day marked by ippon scores and dynamic judo, anticipation is already building for the second day of competition, which promises more high-level performances.
