It is important to recognise the federations who are concentrating on growth, especially those doing so in terms of both grass roots development and the elite level and following the unbelievable success of the 2023 Dushanbe Grand Prix and the introduction of a rapidly growing Judo in Schools programme, Tajikistan fulfils the brief.

In Tashkent, ahead of the last final block of the event, a signing ceremony was held to formalise a new collaboration between the IJF and the Tajikistan Judo Federation, with the organisation of the 2024 World Championships Juniors being laid in the hands of the TJF.

On behalf of the International Judo Federation and in the presence of Tajikistan Judo Federation President Mr Ismoil Mahmadzoir, media representatives and officers of both the IJF and the TJF, IJF General Treasurer Mr Naser Al Tamimi opened the event hosting agreement ceremony, “Dear Mr Mahmadzoir, dear judoka and judo family, we appreciate Tajikistan for hosting this World Championships Juniors and we also congratulate the Tajikistan Judo Federation for hosting their grand prix last year, now upgraded to a grand slam due to the federation’s good work. We also recognise their Judo in Schools programme among other excellent development projects.

I would also like also like to thank all members of the IJF team, including the Executive Committee, and the Tajik government for supporting the organisation of this junior world championship.

Mr Mahmadzoir then spoke on behalf if the Tajikistan Judo Federation, “Dear Mr Al Tamimi, dear partners, I would like to thank you all, especially IJF President Mr Marius Vizer, for trusting us to host these two important international events which will be held in Dushanbe this spring and autumn. To organise a world level event is a first in our sporting history.

The Tajikistan Judo Federation is ready to host the judo family, welcoming guests and judoka from all over the world. We appreciate this opportunity and we hope to see you all in sunny Dushanbe.

The contracts were then signed and exchanged witnessed by officials from both the IJF and Tajikistan and with the formalities complete, the world’s best junior competitors can now begin their preparations ready to compete in Dushanbe in October 2024.
