Olympic Day is celebrated on 23rd June every year to commemorate the day the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was founded in 1894; this was the birth of the modern Olympics.

The IOC is preparing to launch the 2023 theme having enjoyed great success with last year’s edition, ‘Together, For a Peaceful World.’ Themes are not just aimed at a day of activity or a flash of inspiring slogans but at long-term engagement and the objective of inspiring all people to get up and get active.

The Olympic ideals are not just about the elite but about the world being healthier and more united, philosophies Jigoro Kano, judo’s founder, developed and spread across the globe.

What can your judo club or national team do to galvanise the population around Olympic Day? Which healthy habits can Olympic Day help you drive home? As the date approaches there will be widespread press attention and we look forward to seeing your ideas and successes as we head towards the summer and this very special day.
