Li Shufang is an Olympian from China who won a silver medal in the -63kg weight category at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her 20 year competitive career gave Li Shufang not only the experience to reach her Olympic dream, but she also the drive to continue working on judo promotion activities, especially among the youth. Li Shufang founded a judo club in Beijing, China, and dedicates her time to training young children from 4 to 12 years old.
For the first time, the judo club celebrated World Judo Day. A special event was held, during which World Judo Day cakes were shared among the participants. Li Shufang celebrated WJD with her pupils. The event brought happiness, emotions and colours to the dojo.
"This day is without doubt a great day for us. We appreciate and applaud the initiative, keeping in mind that inclusion makes us stronger!" said Li Shufang.
