Final
Lara Cvjetko (CRO) vs Dena Pohl (GER)
The opening exchange gave the advantage to the experienced Lara Cvjetko, who scored yuko with a clean o-soto-gaeshi. From that moment on, the problem became almost insoluble for Pohl. Cvjetko’s defence was compact, disciplined and precise, leaving no room for her opponent to break through. Controlling the rhythm of the contest, Cvjetko secured the victory and claimed the gold medal, a well-earned confirmation of her current dominance.
Bronze Medal Contests
Martina Esposito (ITA) vs Kaillany Cardoso (BRA)
Following the withdrawal of Martina Esposito, the bronze medal was awarded to Kaillany Cardoso, marking Brazil’s third bronze of the day, another sign of the team’s strong collective performance in Guadalajara.
Giorgia Stangherlin (ITA) vs Gabriella Willems (BEL)
Giorgia Stangherlin took an early lead with a clever foot sweep that earned her a yuko. But the contest was far from over. Gabriella Willems increased the pressure as the minutes went by, forcing Stangherlin into constant defence. Yet, the Italian remained opportunistic, countering with a sumi-gaeshi and immediately transitioning into a hold-down for ippon. A near-perfect comeback and a triumphant return for the Olympic medallist.
