The President of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Danilo Medina Otorgo, presented the Medal of Merit of Women to former judoka and currently employed by #Miderec (Ministry of Sports and Recreation) Heidi Germán Tejada, in recognition of her outstanding role in society on the occasion of the #internationalwomensday.

Through decree number 118-18, the former competitor, aged 35, who obtained three medals at continental opens (San Salvador 2011, San Salvador 2015 and Miami 2012) and used to compete in +78kg, was distinguished along with a group of 13 women from different areas, who in their field of action have distinguished themselves in charity of the Dominican community. Heidi Germán Tejada also participated in several IJF World Judo Tour events and in the 2014 World Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

The President of the Dominican Republic Judo Federation said: “It is an honor for our whole community that our former national team athlete, Leidi German, was awarded by the President of the Dominican Repulic, Mr. Danilo Medina. She is the most outstanding woman in the sport and this means a lot for our sport. We are happy to share that with the international community.“
