The World Judo Championships bring together the best athletes from around the world for a week. The event also provides an opportunity for sports leaders to meet and discuss the present and the future of sport across the five continents.

Thus, on Tuesday 9th May 2023, IJF President Marius Vizer had the honour of meeting and discussing at length with His Highness Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, member of the executive office and chairman of the education committee of the Olympic Council of Asia and Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee. Also present were Abdulaziz Alabassam, President of the Saudi Judo Federation and Vlad Marinescu, IJF Director General.

During the meeting, Mr Vizer and HH Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud discussed the current development of judo in the country and especially judo for women. Currently, more than 3000 women are practising judo regularly in Saudi Arabia.

At the end of the meeting, President Vizer presented His Highness Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud with the IJF honorary black belt in recognition of his contributions and support for the sport in Saudi Arabia and the very good progress of judo over recent years, as well as the tremendous efforts done by the Saudi National Olympic Committee, under the leadership of HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud.
