The Brazil Paralympic Center in São Paulo is ready to welcome the world's leading para judoka for three days of high level competition that will launch the qualification journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

From 11th to 13th July, athletes from across the globe will gather in Brazil for a unique event combining two major competitions. The opening two days will feature the IBSA Judo Grand Prix, before attention turns to the IBSA American and Oceania Championships on the third and final day.

Far more than another international tournament, São Paulo represents the very first opportunity for athletes to begin collecting valuable ranking points on the road to Los Angeles. Every contest, every victory and every point earned will contribute to the long qualification process leading to the next Paralympic Games. Unsurprisingly, some of the strongest names in world para judo have travelled to Brazil, determined to make an early statement in the new Paralympic cycle.

Para judo is one of the most dynamic and inspiring disciplines on the Paralympic programme. Reserved for athletes with visual impairments, it showcases the same technical excellence, tactical intelligence and fighting spirit that characterise judo at the highest mainstream level. Athletes compete in two sport classes, J1 and J2, according to the nature and extent of their visual impairment, ensuring fair and meaningful competition while preserving the essence and values of judo.

The event is organised under the auspices of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), the international governing body for sport for athletes with visual impairments. IBSA and the International Judo Federation continue to work together closely through a Memorandum of Understanding, strengthening the development and promotion of para judo worldwide. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to inclusion, excellence and equal opportunities, while reinforcing the place of para judo within the global judo family.
