Dr. MONIKA GLOVICZKI The luminescent paintings of Monika Gloviczki appear to shimmer with light and color, drawing viewers into the artist’s world. Initially inspired by the work of the Impressionists, Gloviczki modernizes her paintings by incorporating elements of abstraction and reportage. Unromanticized and expressively colored, Gloviczki’s work is splashed with bright blues and embellished by golden highlights. While she often approaches a painting with a scene in mind, Gloviczki then allows her instincts and imagination to take over, producing scenes that are beautiful and spontaneous. She describes her work as a form of “silent music,” a symphony played by pigments to form a harmony of composition and color, a song describing deeper layers and moving beyond the banalities of everyday life to reveal what is extraordinary. Gloviczki was born in Poland but spent most of her adult life in Paris, where she earned MD and PhD degrees and worked in the medical field. She currently lives in Rochester, Minnesota, and is a full-time artist. She says her new life in the US has expanded the sense of joy and freedom expressed in her work.

ELIZAVETA ALEKSANDROVA Elizaveta Aleksandrova was born in 1930 in Leningrad. She is true to her works resembling religious spirituality, owed largely to the master painter Vladimir Sterligov, one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, and a disciple of the Kazimir Malevich’s School of Suprematism. Although Sterligov was a dutiful pupil of Malevich, he eventually rejected the hard lines and clear planes of colour of Suprematism. Instead, he made compositions, wherein organic curves were paramount. These were closely allied to shapes found in nature, and became the basis for his pictorial system, called “cup-cupola.” According to Sterligov, the curved line forms the Dome and the Cup, which he considered the main building blocks of the universe, as all forms in the world tend to curve. Aleksandrova has studied in Sterligov’s home studio in Peterhof and continues in her specific - way to rework the Russian avant-garde. Dealing exclusively with painting-collage, Aleksandrova combines oil painting and different fabric textures, creating a visual vocabulary of her own that ascribes to Biblical themes without fully capitulating to them; her unique painterly system of subtle colour combinations and expression, abstract forms bear the mark of Malevich’s Russian School.

RAYMOND POULET As Leo Tolstoy said: “Great works of Art are only great because they are accessible and comprehensible to everyone”. Extravagance has nothing to do with Raymond Poulet, nor with his intention to convey a short moment of happiness, to transmit his generosity through the cheerfulness of his warm colours. Drawing his inspiration from his surroundings, Raymond Poulet paints everyday life with the particularity of dwelling on tradition and culture so that they remain in our memory. The rigour of his graphics and their spontaneity offer him the possibility to bring back picturesque scenes from his numerous trips from around the world. The choice of his palette, his perpetual quest of light displays his foregrounds. His works are an enchantment, a true invitation to intellectual exchanges filled with conviviality. Part of the paintings shown today are about Japanese culture and the homeland of Jigoro Kano, the father of judo, with the addition of several subjects he frequently works on.

EUGEN VASILE Born on July 17, 1967 in Bucharest, Romania, Eugen Vasile studied at the Popular School of Arts (1992) and Popas Academy (1999). He is a member of the “International Association of Art” and Laureate of the contest “The beauty of Art” – Copenhagen. He was awarded the certificate and prize “Petru Comanescu” (1999) for his exceptional results in art. “How beautiful youth is when you have talent, enthusiasm and you can use it to achieve perfection”. Like all Romanian and foreign painters, Eugen Vasile got acquainted with the world of art owing to sensory perceptions, the optical truth and nature. Therefore, Eugen Vasile is sensitive to the values of Impressionism, finding this artistic movement the ideal field for the freedom of individual expression. He is distancing himself from all schemata, from any preconceived structures, but being careful that in the end, the construction of his paintings achieves such a spontaneous unity that the beholder is astounded by their cohesion. Impressionism tempts the artist to play with pure colours without neglecting the solid construction of the drawing, like a spider net with precise contours rigorously conceived. His works focus on his particular personal vision he makes up of a landscape, a portrait, a compositional theme, the reactions of the light’s sensations and its values. To capture such lights, Eugen Vasile went out in the nature, where, isolated from the rest of the world, he manifested full freedom and individualism. Eugen Vasile is taking a step forward ahead of Impressionism, a daring step towards modern art, in which he introduces meditation and elaboration.

Neil has had exhibitions in Manchester, Norway, Paris and recently in Hong Kong. Neil, now living in Stavanger, Norway, explains how his love of art began: “I grew up in a working-class area, which explains why I wanted to learn how to look after myself – but the art came from a need to express myself and give an outlet for my creative urges. I have always had a problem with the written word because of my dyslexia but found painting to be the perfect way to express emotions and things I wanted to put across.” “I still travel quite extensively with my martial arts and always keep my eye on interesting new subjects to represent in my abstract work. It is an exciting area to explore and it requires a different kind of discipline – but it is something I really enjoy, and which sparks my interest.” Neil’s latest works are available on his Facebook page: Neil Eckersley Art.
