It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Bernard Sylvain Mvondo Etoga, born 4th May 4 1983 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

For years, Bernard Etoga has represented his country and Africa in the biggest international competitions. In 1997 he was a finalist at the Jeux de la Francophonie, while a few years later he won a medal at the Commonwealth Games (2002), in Manchester, UK.

Several times champion of Cameroon and champion of the tournament of the city of Yaoundé, it was in 2004 that he became African Champion and was named best African judoka. This result opened the doors to the Olympic Games in Athens.
