Swansea’s Samurai Olympic Judo Club welcomed Britain’s first Olympic judo medallist and the star of BBC series Superstars Brian Jacks to Wales on Sunday 8 October.

Munich 1972 Olympic bronze medallist Jacks was also his country's first world medallist when he took silver at the 1967 World Championships in Salt Lake City.

The Budokwai judoka, 71, who now runs a hotel in Thailand, is back in the country for a 100-day tour of British club's to promote his new autobiography, 'Mindset of a Champion'.

"Brian ran an excellent technical masterclass which was very well attended with over 50 Judoka on the tatami," said a club official.

The event coincided with the 90th birthday of the club's founder and Tokyo 1964 Olympian, Alan Petherbridge MBE and 9th dan along with the 60th anniversary of the Samurai Olympic Judo Club.

"It was a great honour to have both 1964 Olympians on the tatami. We would especially like to thank Alan Petherbridge and his family, Brian Jacks and all the Welsh Judo Club's for their support of this event."
